Character History: Jeep's story starts 25 years before the start of Dominion, living with his father and a young pregnant woman named Charlie. He was first seen waking up with nightmares, a regular occurrence for him due to his constant worrying about everything. He worried most of all about Charlie, because even though she was eight months pregnant with another man's child he still cared about her. She told him herself that it was foolish and warned him that when the baby was born it would be adopted out to a good family. Jeep, in his earnest way, offered to help her care for the the baby if she wanted to keep it. Instead of accepting that offer, Charlie warned Jeep him against carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders before leaving him to his thoughts.

Later on in the day, before things really started going to hell, Jeep was avoiding working on a customer's car in favor of trying to fix up an old beat up cradle for Charlie's baby. His father, Bob Hanson, caught him fixing the cradle and lectured him about how pining after Charlie wouldn't do him any good, making a point to mention how she seemed to go for every man but him. Jeep denied the charges, insisting that she wasn't like that at all. Jeep admitte that his nightmares, like the one that woke him up that morning, were about Charlie. Nightmares so bad that he wished he never had to sleep again. All his feelings pointed towards protecting Charlie as something that he had to do, even if it didn't really make sense.

In response, his father told him that he wanted him to move on from Paradise Falls, find a life that won't leave him old and bitter and pissed off. And more importantly, to give up on Charlie because it wasn't going to happen. As his father walked off, Jeep noticed an unnatural cloud formation on the horizon. Later, after finding he is singularly under qualified to fix a customer's car he goes to tell Bob and ends up just in time to witness an old woman tell Charlie that her baby was going to burn. Jeep watched as another customer tried to confront the old lady, Gladys, about it. He also got to watch as Gladys ripped out a chunk of his throat with her teeth and then scurried up the wall like a damn spider. Faced with something truly evil for the first time, when Jeep had an opportunity to shoot Gladys he choked and was unable to pull the trigger because of his fear. ”You will never save her.” Gladys's words would haunt him especially as Kyle, another customer at the diner, was the one to pull the trigger and keep that possessed woman from hurting anyone else.

Jeep would regret his hesitation, knowing that Gladys would have murdered Bob and Charlie if not for Kyle's timely intervention. Despite being told that he didn't have to be the hero, that there was no shame in being unable to pull the trigger, Jeep continued to be ashamed of himself and determined to be stronger for the next inevitable conflict. While they dispose of Gladys's body, a new player enters into things. Arriving in a stolen police car, the archangel Michael comes armed to the teeth. They barricade the diner and get ready for the next assault on them, still not understanding exactly what has come for them and why. While Michael, Bob, Kyle and Percy go on the roof to fend off the first wave Jeep stayed below with the others to try and fight off any of would try and breach the inside of the diner. Unfortunately, one of their number, Howard who had already been injured, was dragged off before the monsters outside were driven away momentarily.

In the calm that followed, Michael explained what was happening to them. That God had lost faith in humanity and that instead of a flood he'd sent his angels to possess humans and wipe them out. Jeep was the first to catch onto the fact that Michael knew a lot about what was going on, leading the man to admit that until recently he had been an angel himself. He went on to explain that he had come to protect Charlie, that her unborn baby would be the one to save mankind. If her baby died, there was no hope left for them. More importantly, he revealed that Charlie would be having the baby much sooner than anticipated.

As everyone waited for the next attack to come, Jeep and Michael had a chance to talk. Jeep asked Michael why he still had faith when even God had lost it. ”How come you still have faith? Seems like everything I have faith in, it causes me nothing but trouble.” What the former angel tells him, how in part that Jeep was the reason he kept faith is shocking to hear. Michael leaves him to his thoughts and the night progresses without any incidents. The morning, however, marks the return of terrible things as Percy is killed when the angels try to lure his wife Sandra outside. The one piece of good news they hear is a report of the radio of a militia forming only an hour away from the diner. Despite everyone wanting to go meet the militia Michael forbids movement before Charlie has given birth to the baby.

Charlie, troubled by everything falling on her shoulders, ends up talking with Jeep. She explains that she had never wanted the baby to begin with. She had even gone down to the abortion clinic to be rid of it. The only reason she hadn't gone through with it was because of a feeling which she had described as what “death must feel like”. She even told Jeep outright that she'd hated the 'thing' growing inside of her. When he told her not to talk like that and that he knew she would get through everything just fine Charlie lashed out at him. She asked him what she'd done to earn his belief in her, even going as far as to ask him if it was because he didn't have any other hard luck cases to trail after. And even though he loved her, Jeep stood up for himself against the abuse. “You aren't the only who who's had it hard around here, okay? So you let me know when you stop feeling sorry for yourself.”

Later on that night, they lose Kyle to yet another trap set by the possessed. Michael saved Audrey from the same fate though in opening the door they inadvertently let in one of the possessed. The angel, wearing the body of a child, tried to attack Charlie. This time when Jeep had a chance to pull the trigger he did it without hesitating. Charlie went into labor almost immediately after this. As she struggled to bring her baby into the world Jeep and Bob stood guard on the roof and heard as a great trumpeting rang out. Gabriel was coming for the child as angels surrounded the diner.

Charlie gave birth without issue but Sandra tried to take the child as a bargaining chip. When she got struck down Jeep was able to leap in and grab the baby before she could drop him and kill him anyways. Gabriel chose that moment to make his entrance and immediately attempted to kill both Jeep and the baby in one go. A fight ensues as they try to escape and Gabriel fatally wounded Bob. Jeep is distraught but Michael urges him to get the baby out and gives him a cryptic message. ”Find the prophets. Learn to read the instructions.” While Michael fought Gabriel they managed to get out of the diner and into a car. The baby's power ensuring that the possessed could not harm them.

As they drive off, Charlie notices as tattoos spread across Jeep's body. They were the same tattoos Michael bore on his body and Jeep realizes that they are the instructions that Michael had spoken of. They manage to reach Red Ridge, the site of the closest militia, and feel hopeful about their chances. That hope is quickly extinguished as Gabriel attacked their car. Audrey sacrificed herself to keep Gabriel off of Charlie and the baby, holding onto the angel long enough for Jeep to slam on the brakes and send the car into a roll. With just the three of them left they flee into the mountains looking for the militia and once again Gabriel returns like the proverbial bad penny.

Charlie and Jeep both fight for their lives and he tackled Gabriel down a cliff to keep him from harming the woman he loved, though in doing so he left himself without any defense against the angel's wrath. Gabriel asked him why Jeep continued to fight even though he knew all hope was lost. Refusing to give in even when things really did seem to be hopeless he told Gabriel “Fuck you”. Before Gabriel could kill him Michael reappeared, an angel once again. They fought once more, though this time Michael was victorious and Gabriel was forced to retreat to tend to his wounds.

Michael, before leaving, told Jeep that he had been the true protector all along. Jeep made his way back to Charlie and together the two found their way to the waiting militia in Red Ridge. The movie ends with the two of them driving off into the desert together with the child, armed to the teeth with the implication that things weren't done yet but that they would be ready this time.

[From this point on we'll be talking about actual events of Dominion]

”You will never save her.” The words Gladys spoke at the beginning of it all ended up coming true. Jeep and Charlie had found a place to live together with the baby, now named Alex. The only problem was that the eight balls (the humans possessed by low level angels) were still desperate to kill Alex. Despite barricading themselves into the farm house the eight balls managed to kill Charlie before Michael arrived and helped to drive them off. While the archangel watched over Alex, Jeep was forced to bury the woman he loved. With Charlie gone, Jeep and Alex ended up becoming part of the human settlement of Vega.

Vega was a human settlement in the ruins of Las Vegas that Michael was protector of. The city itself had the advantage of a strong military and nuclear power though it also had a strict caste system. Jeep became involved with the leadership of the city, his part in the fight to protect Alex was glorified into their religion. Through it all Jeep remained a father to Alex. He'd take him out of Vega often, back to the house where Charlie died, and teach him how to drive and shoot in an effort to prepare him for the future. They had a few incidents but Jeep kept Alex safe from harm. The good times weren't able to last. Michael helped to convince Jeep that the only way they could decipher the script of the tattoos was for him to leave Vega and search.

Jeep argued against it, not wanting to leave his son behind but eventually gave in. He vanished without a word to anyone. The only thing he left for Alex was a note that said “From now on you will be an orphan, Alex.” The next 15 years Jeep was on a wild goose chase looking for the answers to what secrets the tattoos hid. He would hunt for the names of prophets he misspelled or carrying out tasks he thought he'd been called to fulfill. The years weren't easy for him and in his lowest moments of hunting for answers he even considered killing himself. What kept him from following through with it is unknown but a decade and a half later he returned to Vega to tell Michael that the tattoos were indecipherable. His first thought after explaining the truth of things was to ask how Alex was and if he could see him. Michael was willing to help with that reunion.

Jeep tested Alex's strength and ability to defend himself first and foremost. He'd left his son behind so he could become strong enough to lead the world out of darkness, he had to be sure that Alex was ready for the burden. Alex was understandably upset with this sudden reappearance of the father who abandoned him. He refused to speak with Jeep, leaving the man visibly upset as he realized just how much his disappearance had hurt his son. He resolved to gather the council together before the Jubilee. He also asked Michael if he'd done the right thing for Alex, a question Michael couldn't answer.

Jeep met with the council, explaining that while he hadn't found anything of substance about his tattoos he had been able to find Gabriel's location. Even worse was the knowledge that the angel had assembled an army of possessed as well as recruiting several higher angels to his cause. Then Jeep announced that he was ready to announce the identity of the Chosen One who would lead mankind out of the darkness. Against his wishes the Jubilee goes ahead as planned and Jeep is left to watch the city celebrate. He made an attempt to bridge the distance his betrayal put between him and Alex by giving his son the one remaining picture of Charlie he had left. This is the point from which he'll be arriving in wonderland.

Abilities/Special Powers: Jeep doesn't seem to have any particular special powers or abilities. Everything he can do is within the bounds of human strength. Thanks to his years of fighting angels and surviving on his own he is pretty damn good with a gun as well as regular hand to hand fighting. He is getting older now, 45 years old and not as fast as he once was which will put him at a disadvantage.

Third-Person Sample: Until he'd left Alex alone in Vega, Jeep was convinced that burying Charlie had been the hardest thing he'd ever done. Each shovel full of dirt had been a new scar on his heart imprinting the words You will never save her deeper and deeper still. Time had helped ease the ache a bit, not completely, but enough. Then he'd endured 14 ½ years of the hardest thing he'd ever done. Years wasted as he'd hunted for answers that didn't exist. Time spent going everywhere but back to his son who deserved to be pissed at him. Alex might not have been his by blood but he'd watched that boy take his first steps, had nearly choked with tears when he called him dad for the first time.

The hardest thing he'd done was survive day by day with no certainty that he was doing the right thing. He'd thought more than once that a task had been divine only to realize it was his own desperation for his pain to mean something. The old farm house was both haven and hell. He visited Charlie every chance he could, to apologize for leaving Alex alone in a cruel city, to apologize for fucking up so bad and letting her die. To wish he could die and just not have to look at the goddamn burden Michael had left on his leathery carcass. The hardest thing was deal with the creeping realization that the script curling across his skin never made sense no matter how many different languages he compared it to. It wasn't a code or a cipher, nothing in enochian or sumerian or any dead language ever panned out.

The hardest thing was finding Gabriel's stronghold and realizing he finally had a reason to go back to Vega and face the boy he'd abandoned.

In the end none of those things were the hardest to deal with. The pain and loneliness and the failures were nothing when he heard the pain in Alex's voice when he realized it was Jeep standing in front of him. The rejection that followed was easy because all he had to do was sit there and listen to the condemnations and know that every bit of it was deserved.

The easiest thing he ever did was give Alex the picture of Charlie that had been his talisman over the years. He was an old man now, he didn't have the right to hold onto her when Alex needed his mother so much more. All he could hope was that giving her up to the boy he'd given up in turn would be enough to redeem him a little.

First-Person Sample: [ Jeep taps at the screen with a frown, he's less confused than he is frustrated by the fact that he has no goddamn idea where he is. He's been lost before, he's never been lost someplace like this. ]

Cute as all this is, I'm hoping somebody here knows where the emergency exit back to Vega is. I've got... well, I got things I need to do that aren't gonna get done here. [ He runs a hand over his face, looking rather tired of well... everything. ]

What I need right now is to know if there's anyone from that can tell me what's going on. Without acting all squirreley about it would be a bonus. Barring that, [ He manages a wry smile now, softening hard features into something more friendly if still more weatherworn than a man his age usually looks. ] I'd like directions to a place to get a decent drink.

[ It takes him a moment to figure out how to turn off the feed, a bit of fumbling and a quiet curse before it cuts off. ]
